When is the VAT removed from my order?

Last updated on

When you place an order and the billing- and delivery address aren't located in Belgium, the VAT may be removed from your order. However, this isn't always the case! When does the VAT apply, and when doesn't it? We explain that here.

The VAT in an order may be removed when the following conditions are met:

  1. Your billing address isn't located in Belgium.
  2. Your delivery address is located abroad from the country from which we send your order.

Item 1 is obvious. At item 2, things start to get complicated. Our production isn't located at our office in Hasselt (BE). We work together with several partners throughout Europe, so your order may not be sent from Belgium, but for example, from Germany or The Netherlands. Is your country of delivery in the same country as our production partner, your order won't leave the country and the VAT won't be removed as a result.

  • Example 1: Your billing address is in The Netherlands, and you order something that's been produced in Belgium. Both your billing address and delivery address are located abroad. In this case, your VAT will be removed.
  • Example 2: Your billing address is in The Netherlands and you order somethign that's been produced in The Netherlands. The delivery address isn't located abroad and so the VAT won't be removed.

When you order with us, the system automatically recognizes for which products the VAT is applicable. If you order more than one product in one go and these products are produced in different countries, it's possible that the order will be split up.

Note: We can only remove the VAT when you've submitted a valid VAT-number.
